01Day 1

Day 1

Arrival at Lusaka Airport & Transfer to Ila Safari Lodge

On arrival at Lusaka’s International Airport, you will be met and assisted to board your light aircraft charter to Ila Safari Lodge. Ila Safari Lodge overlooks the Kafue River and is located in the eastern part of the Kafue National Park, Africa’s largest National Park. You'll arrive at Ila Safari Lodge and check into your Luxury Safari Tents, each individually designed to mesh with their wild surrounds and open to sweeping views of the Kafue River. You'll enjoy afternoon tea before heading out for some afternoon activities such as a sunset boat cruise or a game drive. This very eco-conscious lodge operates fully electric, solar-powered e-cruiser boats and electric game-drive vehicles, providing a very silent wildlife-viewing experience. Alternatively, you may of course also opt to simply relax at the lodge by taking a dip in the pool or enjoying a massage. Upon return to the lodge, dinner awaits you.

02Days 2–3

Days 2–3

Explore Kafue National Park from Ila Safari Lodge

You'll spend today exploring Kafue National Park and enjoy the large variety of activities that Ila Safari Lodge offers. From game drives (early morning and afternoon), walking safaris (typically early in the morning), and fishing trips by boat on the Kafue River to boat cruises (including sunset cruises), there is something for everybody’s taste and liking. You will be able to experience African wildlife such as elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles as well as antelopes, and a plethora of birds. All activities are designed with minimal disturbance to wildlife in mind so that you can experience the natural rhythm of life in the Kafue National Park. After your morning activity, you may decide to simply relax alongside the lodge’s infinity pool, overlooking the vast Kafue River before embarking on more game activities in the afternoon. You'll have dinner under the star-lit canopy of the African sky that awaits you upon your return to the lodge.

04Day 4

Day 4

Light Aircraft Transfer to Chisa Busanga Camp

This morning a light aircraft transfer will take you from Ila Safari Lodge to Chisa Busanga Camp. Chisa Busanga Camp is located in the northern part of the Kafue National Park amidst the Busanga Plains. It does not get more remote than this and staying in the Busanga Plains offers a fantastic and exclusive wilderness experience with almost no other vehicles around on game drives. This area is also considered to have the best wildlife viewing in the whole of Kafue National Park. Chisa is the Nyanja word for ‘bird nest. The very unique rooms that you will check into were inspired by the weaver bird nests that decorate the trees here. This camp is also only powered by solar power, so are the game-drive vehicles and bicycles used to explore the watery surrounds (called ‘dambos’ by the locals). After settling into your luxurious ‘bird’s nest’ room, you will enjoy an afternoon game activity. You'll return to the camp for a delicious dinner under the African sky.

Days 5–6

Explore Kafue National Park with Chisa Busanga Camp as Your Base

Chisa Busanga Camp’s more remote location in one of the most untouched wilderness areas in Africa offers a special kind of solitude, as well as a wetland ecosystem bristling with diverse wildlife. Over the next two days, you will have many opportunities to get to know this area a little better. Mornings begin gently with a game drive in one of the camp’s electric Land Cruisers and stopping in the bush to enjoy a breakfast prepared over hot coals. In the afternoon, you may enjoy late-afternoon walking safaris, e-mountain bike safaris, and birding. Apart from plains game such as antelopes, you can look forward to sightings of predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, as well as wild dogs who prey on the concentration of game. Should you wish to take it a bit slower, simply relax at the camp's pool or have an afternoon rest in your room overlooking the plains. In the evenings, you can wind down with stargazing and storytelling around the campfire.

07Day 7

Day 7

Light Aircraft Charter Transfer to Lusaka

Today you will bid farewell to Chisa Busanga Camp and the Kafue National Park. Depending on your travel itinerary, you may still be able to enjoy a morning activity such as a game drive, guided bush walk, or mountain bike safari. Alternatively, you can relax at the lodge before your light aircraft charter transfer takes you back to Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport for your onward journey.
