Fly to Kafue National Park

Your safari begins at Lusaka Airport with a scenic flight to Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most diverse wilderness areas. From the moment you land, the wild beauty of Kafue unfolds — wide open plains, winding rivers, and an incredible abundance of wildlife. You’ll be met and transferred to Ila Safari Lodge, an eco-luxury haven set on the banks of the Kafue River. The lodge’s modern yet earthy design, complete with solar-powered suites and uninterrupted river views, creates a sense of understated elegance in the heart of the wilderness. After settling into your tented suite, you'll set off on your first game drive, where elephants, buffalo, and big cats roam freely. As the sun sets, you'll return to the lodge for a gourmet dinner beneath a canopy of stars, the sounds of the bush serenading your evening.

Day 2

Kafue's Wildlife

Awaken to the soft light of dawn and the distant call of birds echoing over the river. An early morning game drive takes you deep into Kafue’s varied landscapes, where the park’s rich wildlife thrives — from herds of antelope grazing on the plains to leopards stealthily moving through the trees. After a hearty breakfast back at the lodge, the day is yours to enjoy. You may wish to relax by the infinity pool, watch hippos wallowing in the river below, or simply soak in the tranquility from your private deck. In the late afternoon, a boat safari offers a completely different perspective. As you glide across the Kafue River, the mirrored surface reflects the fiery hues of the setting sun while kingfishers dart across the water. Evening falls with a sumptuous three-course dinner paired with fine wines.

03Day 3

Day 3

Game Viewing in Kafue National Park

Today offers the opportunity to experience Kafue intimately and thrillingly — on foot. A guided walking safari reveals the smaller details of the bush, from animal tracks to unique flora, while your guide shares their deep knowledge of the ecosystem. After returning to Ila for lunch and some relaxation, you might indulge in an afternoon game drive, capturing the park’s golden light. As the day draws to a close, you’ll set out on a sunset cruise, where elephants often gather to drink and the sky ignites in shades of orange and pink. The evening concludes with a fireside dinner, the air filled with the scent of the bush and the gentle sounds of the river. Please note: walking safaris are available at certain times of the year, dependent on weather and the level of grass in the area. Your safari guide will advise as per the safety of this activity on site.

Day 4

Fly to Livingstone

Today, you'll fly from Kafue to Livingstone, where the adventure continues on the banks of the Zambezi River. Your next stop is Tongabezi Lodge, a sanctuary of romance and refined comfort just upstream from Victoria Falls. Nestled among ancient trees and lush riverfront gardens, Tongabezi’s individually designed houses and cottages blend African character with modern luxury. Every detail invites relaxation and connection with nature. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, where hippos, crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife accompany your journey, and the horizon glows with the magic of an African sunset.

Day 5

Experience Victoria Falls

A highlight of your stay is a visit to the iconic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Known locally as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” — the Smoke that Thunders — the falls are an awe-inspiring sight, with mist rising high into the air and rainbows dancing in the spray. After exploring the falls, return to Tongabezi. Perhaps indulge in a canoe excursion on the Zambezi, enjoy a game drive, mountain bike to a local village, or simply unwind while taking in the soothing sounds of the river. As night falls, a candlelit dinner on Tongabezi’s floating deck provides the perfect finale, with your meal delivered by canoe under a star-filled sky.

Depart from Livingstone
