South Luangwa National Park

You will arrive in Lusaka in time for your flight to Mfuwe Airport. Kafunta River Lodge is a classic Zambian safari lodge, combining all the essentials for a great safari, including its spectacular location at the edge of the floodplain. Beyond the plain, lies the Luangwa River – one of the best game viewing areas in the magical South Luangwa National Park. This is indeed the premier park in Zambia and one of the best national parks in all of Africa. The lodge was fully renovated in 2019 and offers a relaxed atmosphere and great attention to detail. We love what we do and we can’t wait to share this with you! 8 standard chalets on stilts, 2 luxury suites with mezzanine (up to 4 people), magnificent views of the river from each chalet, en-suite bathroom with shower and two sinks (and separate bathtub for the suites), walk-in mosquito nets with ceiling fan coffee-making set and table fridge. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, and night drives.

South Luangwa National Park

The drive to Island Bush Camp will take you through woodlands and riverine landscapes while passing through a couple of authentic villages. At the camp, the views stretch from the Chindeni hills in the Eastern corners of the Luangwa Valley to the Muchinga escarpment in the West, presenting the complete natural boundary of this remote and achingly beautiful wilderness. Every day offers new and unique experiences. Set under the shade of ancient mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River, our authentic Zambian bush camp is the gateway to one of the most remote and unspoiled areas of South Luangwa National Park. Island Bush Camp offers a pure wilderness experience with walking safaris at the core of its activities. 5 twin chalets on stilts (10 beds), magnificent views of the river from each chalet, open-air bathrooms with running water, bucket shower and flushing toilets, walk-in mosquito nets, and solar lights. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, and night drives.

Fly to Lusaka Airport

On your final morning at Island Bush Camp, you will be driven to Mfuwe Airport for your flight back to Lusaka.
