If the opportunity arises the Rhino will be tracked on foot. NO persons under the ages of 16 years.

Elephant Research Program
The Elephant Research Project is a unique activity offered at White Elephant as an alternative to Game drives, Walks, Boat cruises and Fishing. This activity is educational, interactive and visual, and includes spending time with our research and conservation staff. After an early breakfast, guests depart for a cruise on Lake Jozini to locate and watch the elephants from the boat. After a few hours on the water, guests are returned to the Lodge for High Tea. The activity continues after tea with a visit to our Research Centre, to watch the BBC production”Operation Elephant-The Mission” documenting the initial re-location of our elephants from the Kruger National Park. Guests examine elephant skulls and bones and participate in discussions and debates. Spending time in the world of elephants is enlightening and fascinating, and offers insight into the Reserve history, the re-wilding and re-stocking of animals, nature and conservation issues, and the purpose of the Space for Elephants foundation and our other research projects. We would appreciate prior notice of interest in this activity so that we can ensure our researcher will be available.
Fishing
Lake Jozini is the Pongola Game Reserve is the most southern river / lake where tiger fish are endemic. Although widespread and still common in certain areas like the Pongola river, tiger fish are declining in most rivers due to pollution, water extraction and obstructions like weirs and dams that prevent their passage up-or downstream to suitable spawning sites along flooded river banks and lake shores. From the novice fisherman to the expert anglers fishing with a fly, Lake Jozini offers you the ideal location for tiger fish of a lifetime, while you enjoy the pristine wilderness setting that compares favourably to the wilds of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. Aswell as tiger, there are blue kurper (Oreochromis mossambicus), red-breasted kurper (Tilapia rendalli), huge catfish, yellowfish, red-nosed mudfish, silver and butter barbell, a dozen species of barbs and minnows including the silver robber or dwarf tigerfish (Micralested acutidens). We have different sizes boats that can be rented for either half a day or a full day.
Game Drives
Game drives are conducted in an open 4-wheel drive vehicles with a professional guide, either in the early morning or late afternoons. (Please note – no driving around is permitted unless you are accompanied by a Reserve staff member)
Guided Walks
Walking trails are very much a part of the White Elephant Safari experience. Walks go out daily, either early morning or late afternoon. (no children under 16 unless parents give permission)
