Vila do Paraiso
Overview
The Vila do Paraiso Resort site was purchased 6 years ago by a private consortium, seeking to provide something more intimate and personal for groups and families than the commercial prospects that existed in Vilanculos at the time.
As privacy and intimacy are paramount to your enjoyment, only 6 family-sized villa's are placed on the 1000m2 property amongst lush tropical gardens, just north of the hustle and bustle of town on the lovely stretch of shoreline called Mahaque Beach.
After 2 years of successful commercial operation, the resort is growing from strength to strength and is a leading supplier in Vilanculos of both fully-catered and self-catered luxury group accommodation. With a dynamic and focused on-site management team, and well trained and enthusiastic staff selected from the local community itself, the powerful combination of luxury accommodation with brilliant service is achieved.

Beach and Town Activities
If you are taking a break from the open ocean and just want to spend some time on terra firma, Vila Do Paraiso offers a range of pursuits for landlubbers from horseriding to massage and curio shopping. Beach Rides: Succumb to the ancient arab influence and stroll the beach near the dhow harbour on the back of a ship of the desert. Alternatively you could splash along at higher speed on the back of horses rescued from Zimbabwe farms. Massage: if all the activity has been too much or you really just want to get rid of that big city stress, we can arrange for a private massage at the resort - in the comfort of your own villa or outside if you wish. For those who just want to catch up on their tanning, our staff will set up sun loungers on the beach for you along with refreshments of course. Sundowners & Cocktails: What better way to end off a perfect day than with sundowners on the beach and perhaps a cocktail or two. If you don't want the action to end, how about a booze cruise on the boat down the coast past the dhow harbour to San Sebastion point? Shopping: Indulge your latent bargaining skills and go shopping in the local market, or find some well crafted curio's at the craft market. Beach Games: Engage your competitive spirit in a range of beach games including beach volleyball, cricket, beach tennis, frisbee, boulle, etc
Diving in Bazaruto
There are over 2000 fish species, 100 hard and 27 soft coral species among the Bazaruto Archipelago which makes this a scuba diving and snorkelling paradise, not to mention the crystal clear and warm tropical waters. Scuba Diving: There are numerous dive sites to choose from, ranging in depth from 6m to 34m thus catering for all from the less experienced to the most avid diver. The water temperature ranges from 21 degrees Celsius in winter to 30 degrees Celsius in summer, with the visibility averaging 18m in winter and 8m in summer. As our reefs range from shallow to deep, they offer the diver an abundance of marine life with huge diversity of both coral and fish life. Snorkelling: The Bazaruto archipelago is a skin-diving paradise. With numerous shallow, safe tropical reefs to choose from on an array of different islands in warm tropical waters, the world is your oyster.
Island-Hopping
Island-Hopping: Full day and half day trips are available to explore any of the amazing tropical islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago which lie within a boats ride from Vila Do Paraiso. Each island has its own distinct landscape and history, so try and experience them all during your visit.
Sport & Game Fishing
Vilanculos & the Bazaruto Archipelago is the area in southern Mozambique where the warm Mozambican current comes in closest to shore. The Bazaruto Archipelago is blessed with a myriad of underwater structures that hold large amounts of bait-fish, which in turn attract an immense variety of migrating pelagic fish that cruise past the area throughout the year making fishing for giant king fish, king mackerel, yellow fin tuna and barracuda possible all year round - this is game fishing at its best! Fly fishing and shore fishing off the islands also make for exciting sport fishing alternatives.
Traditional Dhow Excursions
A dhow is a traditional Arab vessel that was introduced around this coastline as early as the 11th century. Muslim and Persian traders were the first outsiders to arrive to the area by sea and traded pearls and ambergris. The dhow boats are used by the locals for fishing purposes and, of course, to explore the tranquil waters beneath. Setting off early in the morning, you will be whisked away to any of the beautiful islands, with pointed tips jutting out from the water and rugged sails pulled taut in the breeze, the sense of the amazing history in this place overwhelms. Discover the seabed at your leisure off the side of your dhow and experience the ocean as never before.
