Overview
Solio Lodge is located inside Solio Reserve, part of a private ranch and home to a diverse population of wildlife.
Internationally recognised as the most successful private rhino reserve in Kenya, Solio is home to hundreds of rhinos, both black and white, which live harmoniously alongside numerous other species including buffalo, zebra, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah and plains game such as eland, oryx, impala, waterbuck, Thompson's gazelle and warthog.
Solio's array of exciting activities cater to all energy levels. Enjoying the magnificent wild outlook with views of Mount Kenya is definitely an option, but so is walking, mountain biking, trout fishing, horse riding and a 4x4 safari in the rhino sanctuary. It flows through every corner of our planet, nourishing life, shaping landscapes and inspiring awe. Water is life, a precious gift that unites us in our shared humanity. Let the melody and lyrics take you on a journey through the ebb and flow of our crystal streams and dancing raindrops.
Celebrate Thanksgiving with the incredible Ntorosi dance of the Samburu women
Join us this Thanksgiving as we celebrate with the Samburu women in a vibrant tribute to life-giving water through the traditional Ntorosi dance. Discover the heart of this powerful ceremony with Lilian Lesanjiir, the first female spotter at Sasaab, as she narrates the deep significance of Ntorosi in Samburu culture. This traditional women's dance is a prayer for rain during times of drought. When the rain arrives, it breathes new life into the Earth—plants flourish, rivers flow, and both wildlife and people rejoice. Experience the spirit of Thanksgiving, Samburu-style, as Lilian's storytelling brings the Ntorosi dance to life, inspiring gratitude for the life-sustaining power of water.
