Serian's Nkorombo
Overview
Nkorombo is Serian’s tented mobile camp, set on a private riverside site in the Masai Mara Reserve.
This snug little setup is chock-full of character with a view over the rushing Mara River, bursting with laughing hippo and languorous crocodile. Much like at Serian and Ngare Serian, life at Nkorombo is low-key and tranquil. Nestled among a stand of wild olive and orange croton, the camp is right next to a lively salt lick that regularly features black rhino, and lion and leopard on the lookout for kill… There is an abundance of prey in this area, and it’s the perfect spot for spectacular game viewing.
This one has more of a traditional tented feel than Serian and Ngare Serian – Nkorombo is thoroughly canvas, and touches like the time-honoured safari showers are a nod to the differences between fixed and mobile camps.
Designed to blend seamlessly into its stunning surrounds, it comprises five spacious ‘Selous style’ tents decked out in safari style of yore: leather, weathered wood, gauzy swathes of cotton, all lend accents to the essential, beautiful and comfortable style that defines Nkorombo. The en suite bathrooms blend wilderness and luxury, with flush toilets and bucket showers.

Game Drives
The cornerstone of a safari experience at Serian is that each group has their own open-top safari vehicle, and their own dedicated guide and spotter. The freedom this grants you is key to getting the most out of your stay: go where the day takes you, without the limitations of fixed schedules, or fitting in with other peoples’ plans. Nothing but personal desire need dictate what you do. Our vehicles are specially customised to be a climbing frame, and a photographer’s extra tool. They are comfortable, able to handle the terrain, and cover the distance…. And were designed for sun, rain, wind, and above all, the feeling of having as little as possible separating you from what’s out there. Our guides and spotters are intimately familiar with these special places, so they know all its secrets and the ways the animals interact with it, from the subtle changes of the seasons, to the stages of an animals lifecycle, to the flora that sustains it all – they are the key that can unlock it all for you. As the setting sun draws the day to a close, head back to camp and join us round the campfire – the perfect gathering spot to share a pre-dinner drink and stories of the dwindling day.
