Overview
Nestled beneath towering fever trees and ancient baobabs, Kuthengo Camp enjoys a spectacular setting on an open floodplain overlooking the Shire River in the heart of Liwonde National Park.
Intimate and secluded, the camp offers five spacious safari tents, including a family suite, each featuring an en-suite bathroom, deep bathtub, outdoor shower and private deck. From here, guests can unwind while watching herds of waterbuck gather nearby as the African bush comes alive at sunset.
Liwonde National Park is one of Africa's conservation success stories, renowned for its healthy populations of elephant, hippo, crocodile, antelope and exceptional birdlife. Guests can explore this diverse wilderness on expertly guided day and night game drives in open-sided safari vehicles or enjoy immersive walking safaris led by experienced guides and accompanied by an armed National Park scout.
From late December to early April, boating safaris along Liwonde's tranquil lagoons offer a unique perspective of the park. Drifting quietly through its waterways reveals abundant birdlife, basking crocodiles, pods of hippo and elephants gathering at the water's edge, making for an unforgettable safari experience.
