Learn about Gorongosa’s unique approach to conservation.The E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Lab is a modern scientific facility in the heart of the national park, one of the first of its kind in Africa. It offers long-term research and training opportunities in biodiversity documentation, ecology, and conservation biology to Mozambicans, visiting researchers, and students. The Lab’s work helps guide restoration efforts in Gorongosa National Park and other protected areas of Mozambique.

Set out on an open game drive with our expert safari guides and explore over one million acres of protected wilderness in Gorongosa National Park. Traverse vast floodplains, wander through fever tree and palm forests, and encounter an extraordinary diversity of wildlife — from lion and elephant to the Park’s remarkable population of over 65,000 waterbuck. With no other vehicles in sight, it often feels like you have the entire park to yourself. A trip to Mount Gorongosa reveals a completely different side of the Park — with rainforest trails, hidden waterfalls, and sweeping views. Hike to the crystal-clear pools of Murombodzi Falls for a refreshing swim, savour a picnic lunch in nature, and visit the Gorongosa Coffee Project to learn how sustainable farming is helping restore the mountain’s fragile ecosystem. Gorongosa is at the forefront of pangolin conservation, and guests have the unique opportunity to learn more about these elusive and endangered animals. All visitors can tour the Pangolin Conservation Centre at the Park’s headquarters, where rescued pangolins are rehabilitated and monitored. For guests staying five nights or more, there's the unforgettable chance to join a morning foraging walk — following the pangolins as they feed in a new location each day. Walking alongside them and hearing directly from the vets and rangers offers rare insight into what it takes to care for and protect one of Africa’s most threatened species.

As the day winds down, there’s no better way to take it all in than with a sundowner in hand. Stop off at one of our carefully chosen spots — overlooking wide floodplains, watching hippos wallow as they settle in for the night, or facing the silhouette of Mount Gorongosa in the distance. With a fully stocked mobile bar and homemade snacks prepared by our camp chefs, sundowners in Gorongosa are less of an activity and more of a ritual — a daily celebration of nature’s beauty, unfolding in golden light.
