Your private safari home - Hi’Nkweni Villa’s two en-suite bedrooms, each with room for an additional children’s bed, link together to create a spacious six-sleeper offering, complete with private living areas. The Villa can also be booked in conjunction with the neighbouring two-sleeper Suite, allowing a gathering of up to eight guests to enjoy Hi'Nkweni’s exclusive facilities.

The villa gives your family/friends a place to come together and the space to take a little time for yourselves. Access:
The driving time from Johannesburg to Tinga Lodge and Narina Lodge is approximately 4.45 hours. Should you choose to drive, we recommend staying over a night at any of the mountain or country lodges along the Panorama Route to ensure you arrive at us fresh the next morning and ready for a spectacular safari experience.
Driving Directions: The recommended route from Johannesburg to Tinga Lodge and Narina Lodge (±4.45 hours)
On departure, please contact your lodge so that we can keep track of your journey and ensure you arrive safely
- Take the N12 or N4 highway to eMalahleni (formerly Witbank)
- From eMalahleni, follow the N4 highway past Middleburg and continue on to Mbombela (formerly Nelspruit)
- From Mbombela, take the R40 past White River and on to Hazyview
- At the T-junction between Kiepersol and Hazyview, turn left onto the R538 to Hazyview
- At the second set of traffic lights (there will be a shopping centre on your right), turn right onto the R536 towards Paul Kruger Gate (Kruger National Park)
- Enter the reserve at Paul Kruger Gate, where an entrance and a vehicle fee are payable (credit cards are accepted)
To Tinga: Continue to Skukuza Rest Camp
- At the first four-way stop (Skukuza Rest Camp will be on your left), there is a sign directing you to drive straight on to ‘Tinga 7km’
- Continue until you come to a T-junction – the signpost will read ‘Tinga 2km’ – and turn left
- At the next four-way stop you come to turn right towards the river and go over the low-level bridge
- 1.5km after the bridge, turn left and drive straight on until you see the sign for Tinga reception
To Narina: Continue for 8km on the road to Skukuza Rest Camp, then turn onto the first gravel road to your left signposted ‘Narina 4km’
- Continue on this gravel road for 2km, then turn left at the first junction – the signpost will read ‘Narina 2km’
- Continue along this road to reach Narina Lodge reception
Please Note:
This route is safe to drive; you will pass through rural areas where the locals are friendly
- Please drive carefully, and be aware of village pedestrians, children and domestic animals
- The gate into Kruger National Park opens at 05h00 and closes at 18h00; please let us know if you will be arriving outside of these hours so we can make the necessary arrangements for your entrance
- Once in the national park, please strictly adhere to the speed limits and afford the animals right of way
- In winter (May to September) afternoon game drives depart at 16h00 and in summer (October to April) at 16h30; should you arrive after a departure, we can organise a link up for you.

Tinga Lodge is a sophisticated take on the colonial-style lodge, capturing the romance of the pioneer era, while providing considerable more comfort. Occupying private spots along the river and in the bush, 9 Suites and the two-bedroom Hi’Nkweni Villa each have a pool and furnished deck. Hi’Nkweni also comes with its own hospitality and field guide teams, and an open 4 × 4 vehicle for a more exclusive safari experience.

Tinga Lodge is located on the Kruger Park side of Lion Sands Game Reserve. The park, covering 2-million hectares (nearly 5-million acres), is home to more mammal species than any other game reserve on the continent.

Rain is usually in the form of thundershowers, where a downpour is experienced, very seldom lasting longer than a few hours
A year-round safari destination. The animals in Lion Sands Game Reserve are non-migratory, and variation in the safari experience is season-, rather than location-, related. The best period for birdwatching is from October to April
