Award-winning Leopard Hills is located in the western sector of the renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering the world-famous Kruger National Park. This Sabi Sand lodge is perfectly set on a rocky outcrop, offering magnificent views over the bush and an active waterhole on the plains below.
The Reserve comprises over 10,000 hectares of incredibly diverse ecosystems making Leopard Hills the ideal destination to view plentiful game in its natural habitat. Here the ‘Big 5’ (elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard) abound and viewing them at close proximity is our speciality.
Our five-star luxury lodge features eight exquisite renovated and redecorated glass-fronted, air-conditioned suites, each with private plunge pool and superb views over the African bush. Sensational game viewing and a wide variety of activities, along with outstanding fine dining, attended to by professional and friendly staff, all create the safari experience of a lifetime.
Facilities at the this Sabi Sand lodge include an extensive library with internet access, a traditional Shangaan boma, a fully-stocked wine cellar and a curio shop that have all recently undergone extensive refurbishments.
Our treatment sala and gym are very popular among guests. Work up a sweat in our fully-equipped gym overlooking the bush below or enjoy an array of pampering massage treatments in our private glass-fronted sala offering spectacular views from its carefully chosen vantage point off the main pool deck.

Our team’s dedication and passion to please each guest according to his or her needs is prevalent in every aspect of the Lodge. The main deck is perfect for whiling the day away with a pair of binoculars or using the spotting scope, in the glorious sun or under the shade of an umbrella. From this view you may find many untold secrets of the African bush while enjoying a sumptuous breakfast or decadent lunch. When the heat is on, cool down on the open-air verandah with an ice cold drink in hand, or sink below the refreshing surface of our main swimming pool.
The bar and lounge entices guests to pre- or post-dinner drinks and fireside chat with their friendly ranger. Our professional barmen will mix together the freshest ingredients to make interesting and unique cocktails and drinks to suit all tastes. A nightcap of the finest whiskey, port or South African Amarula is the perfect way to end the day.
Silver service dinners are enjoyed in our elegant dining room or under the stars on the deck overlooking the floodlit waterhole. Our wine cellar situated underneath the dining room is a treat for the wine connoisseur, as well as the learning amateur, and is stocked with a selection of celebrated local wines. Our friendly team will assist you in pairing the perfect wine with the menu for that evening.
The library offers a setting of peace and tranquillity, where you are welcome to browse through a large selection of literature and African journals. In addition there is a secluded alcove where online internet access is available 24-hours a day, enabling guests to connect with loved ones at home. A television is also available for those wanting to keep up to date with the latest news or sports games. We have a fine selection of documentary DVD’s for those wanting more information on African wildlife and its intricacies.
Our curio shop is stocked with a stunning range of African memorabilia – offering traditional ornaments, handcrafted jewellery and beautiful safari gear. The curio shop is enough to entice any avid shopper and collector.

Directions from Johannesburg or Pretoria
- From Johannesburg take the N4 to Nelspruit. Once in Nelspruit, carry on towards White River, then take the R40 Main Road to Hazyview.
- Once in Hazyview, along the main road at the traffic lights, turn right and take the R536 to Paul Kruger Gate.
- Approximately 35km along this road, and just after the Saringwa River, look out for signs indicating the Newington Gate and signs indicating “Huntington, Lilydale & Justicia” on the left hand side of the road.
- Newington Gate accesses the Sabi Sands so follow these signs.
- Turn left here and follow this tar road for ± 9km. You will come to a cross roads, turn right onto gravel road. After about 1.8 km you will be at a T-junction, turn left. Another 0.5 km further turn left again and this road leads to Newington Gate.
- 1km further you’ll find the Newington Gate where you will be required to pay a R310.00 per light vehicle, as well as R140 per person entrance fee (applicable fee payable per passenger entering the reserve via motor vehicle). These prices are subject to change.
- Once through the gate, turn left.
- Follow the signs to Leopard Hills.

Chilled bottled mineral water is provided on all transfers and tours.
Private transfers to and from all regional airports (including Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit, Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit, Kruger National Park Gateway Airport in Phalaborwa and O.R.T. Leopard Hills prides itself with the best rangers in the business, and they offer a safari experience like no other, from sightings of big game in their natural surroundings, to the smaller flora and fauna, which make this piece of paradise a place we are privileged to call home.
Walking Trails
Exploring the African wilderness on foot provides us with a real sense of place and we become a part of the environment, absorbing every detail, leaving nothing but our tracks behind. Your senses will become tuned in to the many facets of nature that are often overlooked from a vehicle as you see, smell, hear, touch and even taste the true soul of Africa. Coming across an attractively marked leopard tortoise, watching a fascinating rhino beetle or a stunningly plumed lilac breasted roller, are just a few of the amazing encounters awaiting you!
Private Game Viewing
For a truly exclusive experience, why not book a private safari vehicle and guide allowing you to set your own pace on your safari. For avid birders or photographers this is a must as you can take as much time as you want on a single sighting. Please note: This is dependant on availability of vehicles and guides.
